Who we are
RentRo is a property management business serving Bengaluru. In this policy, "RentRo", "we" and "us" mean RentRo. You can reach us at [email protected] or by phone on +91 90710 80968. Our address is 24/167, 1st Main, 4th Cross, Vinayakanagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560030.
Information we collect
- Enquiries. When you use our enquiry form, we receive your name, mobile number, whether you are an owner or a tenant, the area, and (for owners) the type of property. The form opens a WhatsApp message to our business number, so what you send is handled through WhatsApp as well.
- Calls and messages. If you call, message or email us, we keep the details you give us so that we can respond.
- Tenancy details. If you become a RentRo owner or tenant, we collect the information needed to manage the tenancy, such as identity and employment details, addresses and agreement information. We collect these in person or through documents you give us.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical data, such as IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure and working.
The RentRo assistant
The chat assistant on most pages of this website (not on the guide articles) answers questions from the information published on this website. Answers are produced in your browser from this site's own content, and what you type is not sent to us or stored. It is an automated tool and not a substitute for advice from our team or from a professional.
The owner and tenant portal
If you create an account in the owner and tenant portal, we store on our systems (cloud servers provided by Cloudflare) the details you give us: your name, mobile number and a password that is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form, so we cannot read it. Owners also give us details and photos of their flats. When a flat is rented, RentRo staff record the tenant's name, mobile number, occupation, home address and the agreement dates, and may keep a copy of the signed agreement and a photo of the tenant's Aadhaar card, which we collect only with the tenant's consent.
These records are visible only to RentRo staff and, for a rented flat, to that flat's owner. Tenants and the public never see an owner's phone number, and tenants never see other tenants. Every opening of an agreement or ID document is recorded. Identity and agreement documents are deleted when the tenancy ends. Photos and details of a flat shown on the Find a flat page are limited to what is needed to describe the flat: the exact address, building name and flat number are not shown to the public.
When an owner types a flat's address, the address is sent to OpenStreetMap map services so that nearby schools, colleges and metro stations and their distances can be filled in. You can ask us to correct or delete your information, or to close your account, by contacting us.
How we use information
- To respond to your enquiry and to match owners and tenants.
- To verify tenants and prepare and manage rental agreements.
- To collect rent, arrange repairs and keep records of the tenancy.
- To keep our website secure and to meet legal obligations.
Who we share information with
- Owners and tenants, only as needed to manage a tenancy. Owners can see their own tenant's details. Tenants never receive an owner's phone number.
- Service providers, such as the plumbers, electricians and other tradespeople who carry out repairs, and the messaging and hosting services we use.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information.
